CatioPlanner Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of CatioPlanner. By using the service, you agree to use every result only as a general DIY planning aid and to follow the safety boundaries below.

Effective date: August 16, 2026.

Service and eligibility

CatioPlanner is a parameter-based DIY planning tool. It can organize project inputs and produce general plans, materials lists, cut lists, and cost estimates within supported scenarios. You must be legally able to accept these terms and provide accurate inputs.

Planning aid only — not a substitute for professional engineering

The plans, materials lists, cut lists, and cost estimates generated by CatioPlanner are general DIY planning aids produced by a rules engine. They are not stamped engineering drawings and are not guaranteed to comply with any building code, zoning ordinance, HOA rule, or wind, snow, or seismic requirement.

CatioPlanner does not replace review by a licensed professional engineer, your local building department or permit authority, or a licensed contractor. It also does not replace a site inspection of soil, the existing structure, utilities, or attachment points, or verification against IRC, IBC, zoning, or HOA requirements and all applicable local amendments.

Always verify dimensions, structural loads, fasteners, anchoring, drainage, utilities, window egress, site conditions, and permit requirements before building. Stop when a condition is unknown or requires professional review. You assume all risk associated with construction and use of a result.

AS IS; NO WARRANTY

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CatioPlanner and all outputs are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE,” with NO WARRANTY of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, safety, availability, or compliance with any code or requirement. We do not warrant that an output is suitable for your site or that errors will be corrected.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CatioPlanner and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits or data, property damage, personal injury, construction loss, or claims arising from your use of or reliance on the service or an output. Where liability cannot legally be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the service during the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

Your responsibilities and prohibited uses

You are responsible for the project, site assessment, permits, professional review, material selection, construction, inspection, maintenance, and safe use. Do not build from demo, failed, expired, blocked, or superseded output.

You may not present or use an output as a stamped construction drawing, sealed engineering document, permit approval, code-compliance certification, or professional advice. You also may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, circumvent safety checks, introduce malicious code, infringe another person’s rights, or use it unlawfully.

Intellectual property and license

The CatioPlanner site, software, branding, interface, and original content are owned by or licensed to CatioPlanner and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You retain rights in content you provide. Subject to these terms, CatioPlanner grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use your generated output for personal DIY planning and lawful construction preparation. This license does not transfer ownership of the service or third-party materials and does not authorize resale, sublicensing, or falsely claiming professional approval.

Termination

You may stop using CatioPlanner at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, address a legal requirement, investigate misuse, or enforce these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including safety responsibilities, intellectual property, warranty disclaimers, and liability limits—will survive.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms by posting the revised text and effective date here. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
